Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

In short: QR Key works on your device. We don't run servers that receive your scans, passwords or QR contents, and we don't sell or share your data.

What the app does

QR Key scans QR codes, opens password-protected QR codes, keeps a history of your scans and creations, and lets Pro users create password-protected QR codes.

Camera

The app asks for camera access only to scan QR codes. Camera images are processed on your device and are not saved or uploaded.

QR contents and passwords

The contents of codes you scan or create, and the passwords you enter, are handled on your device. They are not sent to us. If you choose to share a QR code, it goes wherever you send it, through the app you pick.

Photos and saved codes

If you choose to scan a QR code from a photo, the app reads only the photo you pick. When you save a QR code, it is stored in the app or in your photo gallery on your device.

Scan history

Your recent scans and created codes are kept in a history list on your device only. Password-protected codes stay encrypted in the history. Deleting the app removes the history.

Purchases

The Pro unlock is a one-time in-app purchase handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your payment details. The app only checks with the store whether Pro has been purchased on your account. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies cover how they handle your purchase.

Information we collect

  • We do not ask you to create an account.
  • We do not collect your name, email address, location or contacts.
  • We do not use advertising or tracking.

Children

QR Key is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
